Vino Atienza<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em><sup><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">6<\/span><\/sup><\/em><\/strong><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\"><strong><em><sup>\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.\u00a0<\/em><strong><em><sup>7\u00a0<\/sup><\/em><\/strong><em>For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,\u00a0but gives us power,\u00a0love and self-discipline.<\/em> <\/span>(2 Timothy 1:6-7 NIV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><span style=\"color:#0a3083\" class=\"has-inline-color\">\u201cPower, Love and Self-discipline\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Apostle Paul was cautioning (not chastizing!) Timothy to <strong><em>replace<\/em><\/strong> his fearfulness with fearlessness, his selfishness with selfless love and his disarray with discipline \u2013 he can do this simply by <strong><em>\u201cfanning into flame\u201d<\/em><\/strong> the fire at the altar of his heart! &#8230; <em>Basic, yes. Easy, no!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Any fire left to itself will eventually go out. It will run out of whatever fuel it feeds on. The surest ways to quench the Holy Spirit is through negligence and complacency!&#8230; neglect of <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><strong>fervent prayer<\/strong>, of <strong>meaningful fellowship<\/strong> and <strong>disciplined study<\/strong><\/span>. Complacency and neglect of the Holy Spirit and His basic spiritual nourishment over time, and, the fire will simply burn out!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially during a global pandemic, we need to <strong><em><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">keep God\u2019s Holy Spirit active in and through us, we must work at it! He is the Spirit of Power, Love and Self-discipline!<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from Prayer, Word and Fellowship&#8230; I find that <strong>Christian Service<\/strong> \u2013 pure, sacrificial, Christlike servanthood (<em>when done regularly and intentionally!<\/em>) \u2013 is a necessary element to add <span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">\u201c<strong><em>fuel to the fire<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/span>. It keeps us externally-focused and looking at others\u2019 interests instead of our own. <strong><em><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Making sure that whatever spiritual nourishment we are receiving finds itself \u201clived out\u201d by loving others, serving their needs and advancing the common good<\/span><\/em><\/strong>. Do this, not as a passing fad or a new trend&#8230; but, as a necessary outworking of your faith and love for God.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like what my doctor recently reiterated: <em>\u201cdiet and exercise\u201d<\/em> makes you fit and healthy!
