Overcome Evil with Good!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Romans 12:21<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What does a Christ-follower do with widespread hatred, violence and injustice? How should a Christian react to unreserved displays of inequality, prejudice and discrimination?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, there\u2019s an \u201cEASY WAY\u201d and there\u2019s a \u201cHARD WAY\u201d! The Easy Way is simply to react with anger and resentment \u2013 to answer evil with evil, hate with hate… revenge!<\/em> To arm yourself with weapons of retaliation and retribution… as the world calls it, \u201csweet revenge\u201d<\/span><\/em>! It might be sweet… but, Is it right? Is it righteous? Will it bring about lasting change? Does it overcome evil? Is it appropriate for the Christian?<\/span><\/em> The obvious answer is \u201cNo!\u201d… the easy way of revenge leads to more hatred and more violence and therefore more suffering!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hard Way, on the other hand, is really the \u201cnarrow-road\u201d… the path that few will take and the road \u201cless traveled\u201d… but, it\u2019s the path that leads to genuine, lasting change… not to mention, it pleases God as it is the \u201cWay of Faith\u201d<\/span><\/em>. Love and Grace are the boundaries of this way! Patience and Prayer are the muscles that drive this Movement of Peace! Jesus is the model and main motivator<\/em><\/strong> for this way! And this road looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listen Lovingly.<\/span> <\/strong>Everyone\u2019s talking (posting, commenting, opining…) and no one\u2019s listening! In Love, let us learn to listen \u2013 even listen to those we disagree with and understand where they\u2019re coming from. A step closer towards communication and peace<\/u><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Promote Good.<\/span> <\/strong>Do good… to everyone! Even those that are bad! That\u2019s the Kingdom Way \u2013 yes, the Jesus Way! There will always be injustice, inequality and strife. The harder choice is to do good in spite of the evil around you! Continue on advancing good<\/u><\/em>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serve Humbly.<\/span> <\/strong>Nothing takes away the sting of resentment and bitterness than going out of your way to focus on others and other people\u2019s needs<\/u><\/em>! It does not invalidate your pain and suffering \u2013 but it does \u201csoften the blow<\/em>\u201d when the focus is not the self, but others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
