The Post-pandemic Challenge to the Church<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c…Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.\u201d(Matt.28:19-20)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a story after Jesus\u2019 ascension… some angels asked him, \u201cDid you accomplish your mission on earth, Lord?\u201d \u201cIt is finished.\u201d the Lord replied. The angels added \u201cHas the whole world heard of You and Your Kingdom?\u201d. \u201cNot yet…\u201d said Jesus \u201d… I left eleven Jewish men and a few other followers to carry that message to the whole world!\u201d…<\/em> The angels looked at each other with a concerned, puzzled look, and politely asked Jesus:\u201c<\/em>So, Lord, do you have a Plan B?\u201d<\/em><\/strong>!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The story, of course, is fictional but it does make a valid point – the Lord did entrust the treasures of His Gospel and His Kingdom to His broken, sinful disciples!<\/em> <\/strong>(And, knowing our own sinfulness and our stubborn tendency towards rebellion… I don\u2019t blame the angels for wondering about a \u201cPlan B\u201d!<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have been entrusted with the Gospel of the Kingdom. God, in His wisdom, chose to anoint and empower us, the church, for the spread and growth of Jesus\u2019 reign and righteousness unto the world\u2019s salvation \u2013 what an awesome privilege! What a tremendous responsibility!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are we up to the challenge? Are we ready to obey?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
