THE POWER OF GENTLENESS<\/strong>
\u201cA gentle answer turns away wrath.\u201d (Proverbs 15:1)<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The Gospel of John, records seven \u201cI AM\u201d<\/strong> statements of Jesus: \u201cI Am the Bread of Life\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cI Am the Light of the World\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cI Am the Gate for the Sheep\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cI Am the Good Shepherd\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cI Am the Resurrection and the Life\u201d<\/strong>, \u201cI Am the Way, Truth, and Life\u201d,<\/strong> and \u201cI Am the True Vine\u201d<\/strong>. The Gospel of Matthew adds another \u201cI AM\u201d<\/strong> statement of Jesus, \u201cI am gentle and humble in heart\u201d<\/strong> (Matt.11:30). More than ever, we need to heed Jesus\u2019 call and example of love through humble gentleness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit (Gal.5:23). It\u2019s not just the way we respond to provocation, it\u2019s the lens
through which we, as Christ-followers, view and engage an angry and hateful world!<\/strong> We bring His
gentleness to bear on the world\u2019s wickedness – we overcome evil not by countering back with anger and
hatred, but with His grace and Christ-like gentleness!<\/strong> That\u2019s not easy!\u2026<\/strong> we need the Holy Spirit to mold
our hearts and train us to respond in gentleness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Jesus<\/strong> can\u2019t use a proud heart because it won\u2019t submit to His will. Pride does not allow
for gentleness, because it will never admit its faults. A humble heart is the secret to embodying
the gentleness of Christ!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n


So, in a defensive and divided era, the Christian can reveal a better way of engaging and
changing the world around him. It is possible to \u201cturn away wrath\u201d<\/strong> and \u201covercome evil with
good\u201d<\/strong> by simply giving them \u201ca gentle answer\u201d<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
