I do not give to you as the world<br>gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.\u201d<\/em><\/strong> (John 14:27)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><br><em>\u201cShalom\u201d<\/em>, the Hebrew word for peace, is notably both a greeting and a parting<br>salutation. Actually, \u201cshalom\u201d is so much more than just a polite greeting \u2013 it<br>actually includes the idea of completeness and of wholeness. Same with the<br>word \u201cpeace\u201d, it means so much more than simply the absence of conflict or<br>silent tranquility. Especially so when our Lord Jesus Christ qualifies it with His<br>personal signature \u2013 <strong><em>\u201cMY peace I give you\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, he says!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\"><br>Jesus\u2019 peace is one that <em>\u201c\u2026passes all understanding\u201d <\/em>(Phil.4:7). Not just mental<br>assurance or emotional stability, but it far transcends knowledge and wisdom. It\u2019s<br>a grace that comes with the giving of Himself. <em>\u201cHe is our peace\u201d! <\/em>(Eph.2:14) <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-right:0;padding-bottom:0;padding-left:0\">Jesus\u2019 peace is not \u201cas the world gives.\u201d The world offers a peace that is man-made, temporary and external in nature &#8211; it depends on one\u2019s circumstances or reactions to stimuli. The peace of Christ is <em>from God, eternal and spiritually<br>accepted and discerned<\/em> \u2013 not dependent on any outward condition but an inward<br>Presence of a trustworthy and loving God!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><br>This week, we said goodbye to a very dear sister in the Lord and we said to her<br><strong><em>\u201cRest in Peace\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. But the promises of God are reliable and true, our sister is in<br>heaven with her Lord Jesus! It is us who are left behind that need that peace that<br>only Jesus can give.
