There’s Joy in Brokenness.
“Kintsugi”
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together using gold as the adhesive. It’s built on the idea that, in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create a stronger, more beautiful piece of art. Kintsugi says “embrace brokenness, add creativity and imagination, the result is beauty.”
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
Intimacy with God does not mean freedom from Pain and Suffering. In fact, the Bible shows stories upon stories of people close to God and called by God experiencing a good measure of brokenness!
Sometimes, the secret to finding Joy in Brokenness is not in avoiding it but in looking at it. From another perspective – changing your attitude towards it.
Peter, even after denying the Lord 3 times… Paul, even with a thorn in his flesh… they both followed Jesus – Himself suffering and crucified – so that we may enjoy the Joy of Resurrection!
So, before you ask where’s the “EXIT” door out of your pain… or before you go press “ESCAPE” from your challenges and “breaking experiences”… remember this: Pain has a Purpose: you must learn it!
The tragedy of pain is NOT that you have to go through it (because it happens!)…the tragedy is when you have not learned anything while going through it!
There’s comfort and peace in being assured that God does not waste our pain or suffering. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose…” (Romans 8:28a)
Make it a great day!
