Put the “GOOD” in Good News!
Imagine a clear, sunny day complete with blue skies and no clouds… Perfect for Skywriting Airplane messages! I’ve never actually seen one live (but I sure would like to!)… The closest recollection I have of this type of advertising had a message that was supposed to read “JESUS SAVES”. But because it takes time for the plane to write it, the wind has already scattered the first few letters and all I could actually read was “@$#US SAVES”!
I’m glad that the good news that “Jesus Saves” doesn’t fade with time or changing winds… It is a dependable truth that is eternal in value and effectivity! The Gospel of Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ is the trustworthy teaching we, as Christians, hold on to! It is the same message of hope and restoration that we preach to everyone who wants to hear it! The “Gospel”, properly translated, is “Good News”! In ancient history, the word was used of any message of great joy… but biblically, it refers to the great joy brought about by the freedom and salvation that the Savior, Jesus Christ, gives to anyone who believes!
In Romans 1:16, Paul says “I am not ashamed of the GOOD NEWS, it is the power of God for salvation…” It was God who put the “GOOD” in Good News! His nature of Goodness and Love was the basis for sending Jesus to be our Savior! This is a good time to remind all of us to continue (or begin to!) to SHARE the GOOD NEWS! To tell the world that Jesus loves them!… don’t let the winds of change scatter or blow that message away! Do it today!
