“It’s right in front of them, why can’t they see?”

Getting to the summit of Mount Everest is a climber’s ultimate dream! It is one of the hardest and most dangerous of extreme adventures. This is illustrated by Jon Krakauer in his bestselling book “Into Thin Air”.

In his book, he mentions Andy Harris, an avid climber and expedition leader. Andy stayed at the summit too long. On his descent, his body lacked much needed oxygen… he radioed base camp and reported his situation. Base camp pointed him to some oxygen canisters left by other climbers for emergency situations like his. When he found the canisters, he reported that they were empty! Even as they insisted that he use the canisters because they’re sure they are filled, the lack of what he needed had so disoriented his mind that though he was surrounded by something that would give him life, he continued to complain of its absence. The lack of oxygen had ravaged his capacity to recognize what was right in front of him. Together with other climbers that day in May 1996, Andy Harris died a tragic death.

What oxygen is to the body, Jesus is to the soul. There are some who are suffocating around us and we don’t even know it! Their ability to recognize that need and to access the available solution is not there!  — Someone has to be there to show them.

Their only hope is that someone would care enough to show them The Waysomeone would have compassion enough to tell them The Truth… that someone would be gracious enough to share with them The Life that is Jesus Christ.

Will you be that person?
