“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face,
and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin
and heal their land.”
(2 CHRONICLES 7:14)

“People of Promise”
This is pretty familiar verse that’s often quoted, especially during times of crises. Now before
we go reciting this and claiming its promises, let’s have a closer look and study its meaning in
context. Then we can see how it applies to us today…
The setting: King Solomon was dedicating the temple. He asked for God’s favor and God’s
presence. God responds by giving conditions to His people so that His favor and presence come.

The 3-fold promise:
(I will hear…) Answered Prayers!
(I will pardon…) Forgiveness!
(I will heal…) Restoration!

God’s Favor comes with the manifest Presence of God! However, it is conditional (“IF…THEN…”).
God’s conditional promise of blessing… towards those He loves unconditionally!
➢ not magic… not wishful thinking… this is God making a covenant with His people!
God will fulfill His promise if True Christians fulfill the conditions He has set!… not the world,
not the lost… but the Christians! – what a privilege!… and what a responsibility!
