Love was in the air as the Couples from WIN-Seattle/Tacoma celebrated marriage last Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Center. The food and games were a sure way to warm things up on that rainy afternoon. Bro. Joe and Sis. Maria Velasquez prepared marriage-themed games and gave away prizes to winners and participants. A light snack (merienda cena) was enjoyed by everyone.
Pastor Vino and Sis. Maica Atienza tag-teamed in opening the topic about Passion, Intimacy and Commitment as ingredients to Love in Marriage. The materials for discussion were gathered from “The Love Doctors”, Dr. Les and Leslie Parrott, founders of the Center for Relationship Development at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, WA and scientific contributors to the popular matchmaking site eHarmony. A series of short videos with titles like “Communication in Marriage”, “Small Things That Sabotage Marriage”, and “Tips on Stopping Money Fights” were presented while a short video testimony from Dave and Sharon Ramsey (Dave is a prolific author on money matters and a famous Christian financial counselor) was also included.
The Valentine’s weekend culminated in the Renewal of Marriage vows during the worship service. Couples who renewed their vows received special gifts followed by our usual potluck. Indeed, it was a LOVE-filled weekend.
