Ride the Change of 2022!

Does God laugh? I’ve always wondered… I’m sure He created a sense of humor (just go people-watching for a while and you’ll know that He does!). Here’s a sure way to “make Him laugh” – remind Him of the plans you made for 2021 again! Haha!… Like me, you probably didn’t think that 2021 would look pretty much like 2020 with this pandemic! Things don’t always turn out the way we plan it – Plans change, People change!

That said, it’s still best to make plans (long term and short term) but wise to do and to say “If the Lord permits…”  Regardless, we should always have that Christ-like attitude: ready to serve, ready to share, ready to do what God has sent us to do – to accept that plans change and that change is not necessarily a bad thing… with the right attitude!

In the 1800’s, the dominant industry was the train industry… anything and everything connected to the Train Business was sure wealth! That was true until the CAR (the automobile) was invented! The Train people, because of their clout, had the first opportunity to RIDE THIS CHANGE and invest heavily on it – but they didn’t! Instead, they stuck to trains thinking that it’ll never go out of style. They thought “why would anyone ever want to drive their own car?!” Talk about a mistake and a missed opportunity!

Their primary mistake? They saw themselves as being in the “Train Business” instead of the “Transportation Business”! They were NOT WILLING to make the adjustments and reluctant to RIDE THE CHANGE …instead of the change rode them out!

What’s the difference between a pessimist & an optimist? … A pessimist sees a problem in every opportunity, an optimist sees an opportunity in every problem.

Lesson for 2022 – recognize the opportunity and ride the change!

This pandemic FORCES all forms of change – our work, our schools, our sports, our interactions, our recreation, our church… our lives!…

So, in 2022 – do we ride these changes or do they ride us out?
