Don’t Forget WHO wrote The Book!

“For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human,

spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

2 Peter 1:21

IN the age of texts, tweets and social media interaction, it’s refreshing to see folks using their influence to spread The Word thru encouraging texts, graphics, emojis and quotes that aim to uplift or edify others using verses we get from the Bible!

Just don’t forget, God was the one who wrote Scriptures using the hands and minds of prophets, apostles, judges and kings… men of God who wrote under Holy Spirit inspiration within a specific historical, geographical and literary context! That’s why it’s powerful – God is it’s original author – designed to accomplish His Purpose!

We should take care in sending out snippets of this Truth… Yes, generously send it out BUT be extra careful in doing soit IS God’s HOLY Word! There are many great quips, quotes and ideas from great men and women whose words surely build us up… but please remember to distinguish between man’s word and God’s Holy Word!

Now when it comes to reading or meditating on The Bible, I remember what Pastor John Piper taught: “in prayer we talk to God while in reading the Bible, we hear from God”. Reading the Word is part of communicating and communing with God! The reminder is for us to be PRAYERFUL when we read it, share it or meditate on The Word of God!

In context… In prayer… with His Whole Purpose in mind… with that, READ/LIKE/SHARE The WORD!
