Remember the Resurrection

The Resurrection is the supreme miracle of Christianity — it’s at the very heart of our faith. If it never happened, Christianity collapses into mythology and billions of people have been deceived! If it did happen, it authenticates everything Jesus did and said — and believers have the guarantee of eternal life and forgiveness of sins! Paul said it clearly in 1 Cor. 15:14, 15 & 17 – “…And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God… And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.”

A grandfather wanted to check how much his 4-year old granddaughter knew about the Easter story. He put her on his lap and asked, “Jenny, why do we celebrate Easter?” Without hesitating, she said, “Jesus was crucified. After He died, His body was put into a grave and they rolled a big stone in front of the cave. Soldiers guarded the tomb. On the third day, there was a big earthquake and the stone was rolled away…” Grandpa smiled and was very pleased with what he has heard so far…she continued “When the earthquake happened, the entire town came out by the grave…  and if Jesus came out and saw His shadow, they knew there would be six more weeks of winter!

If Resurrection truth is at the heart of our faith, then every Christian bears the responsibility of knowing and spreading its message!

If Resurrection is central to our teaching, then every Sunday School class and Bible Study group should involve its facts and implications!

If Resurrection is critical to our practices, then every preaching and exhortation should be filled with its hope and power!

“Where, O death, is your victory?    Where, O death, is your sting?”… But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:55 & 57)
