This year’s Vacation Bible School was simply “weird”.  Our theme was Weird Animals VBS – where we learned that Jesus’ love is one-of-a-kind.  We met some of the weird animals that God created and learned that even though we’re left-out or different, even when there are things going on around us that we don’t understand, even though we do wrong and when we’re afraid—Jesus loves us! On July 13th, Sacajawea Park in Federal Way served as the venue for this year’s first WIN Summer Sportsfest.  Our Youth Ministry organized the softball and tennis games.  We started the games late because a lot of folks were watching the World Cup football championship onscreen between Argentina and Germany (or, at least, the first half!) Softball players were divided into two mixed teams (involving everyone – young, old, man or woman).  Three innings was enough to determine a winner. Mother’s Day (May 11) and Father’s Day (June 15) in WIN-Seattle were unforgettable!  All the Moms and Dads were honored with home made gifts and special numbers as both days were dedicated to them and especially to the Lord in thanksgiving for all the mothers and fathers in the church. Roses, chocolates and stylish hats were presented for the mothers while the fathers received a homemade jar of dry barbecue rub and a free bowling night out with the kids!  A free photo booth was set-up so both moms and dads can capture the memories with professional level photography!  Of course, both celebrations were capped by aRead More →

Together with the rest of the Christian community, WIN Seattle celebrated its most important holiday of the year – Resurrection Sunday, last Sunday, April 20.  After a joyful time of celebration in song, the children made a heartfelt presentation to bless the congregation – thanks to Sis. Pam for getting them ready for this. The celebration continued with a mini-Cantata put on by the church choir accompanied live by members of the Music Ministry.  Sis. On Saturday, March 15, the community of Word International Ministries in Seattle put together a dinner dance fund raiser, dubbed Rhythm of the Night –  Dance to Heal, to benefit the rebuilding efforts in the Tacloban, Leyte outskirts.   Most everyone by now has heard of the devastation that typhoon Haiyan brought upon the Central region of the Philippines back in November.  Much of the news focused on the rescue and disaster relief efforts given by the international community.  But after 4 months, news of the disaster has all but disappeared from most of the world’s radar, even as the people of Leyte are justRead More →

The food and games were a sure way to warm things up on that rainy afternoon. Bro. Joe and Sis. Maria Velasquez prepared marriage-themed games and gave away prizes to winners and participants. “Hearts in Worship, Hands at Work” 14th Anniversary Theme of WIN-Seattle/Tacoma Our community celebrated its 14th anniversary on the last week of October. This celebration of God’s favor and faithfulness involved a collection of activities that both counted the previous year’s gains and prepared the leaders and workers for the coming church year. We started the celebration by going on a retreat entitled “Unplugged” on October 18-19, 2013 at Lakeview Christian Retreat Center in Auburn, WA  .
